Artist's Statement

Kaori Hamura Long's art celebrates the fluid energy that flows through all consciousness and matter. Her work has long centered on the expression of kinetic energy, capturing life's unseen vibration and energy motion. Drawing inspiration from dreams and meditation, her paintings are often spontaneous visualizations of the subconscious mind, between intuition and imagination. For over a decade, Kaori has favored wood as her canvas, drawn to its organic patterns that spark her creativity. Each piece begins with the images she perceives within the grain, guiding her hand as she intuitively lays down lines and colors. While deeply personal and intuitive, her art is also a conscious act of communication, aiming to connect with viewers on a visceral level. Having grown up immersed in Manga and Anime culture and worked extensively as an illustrator, Kaori incorporates whimsical cartoon-like characters into her work to convey her concepts. These playful elements bridge her cultural roots with universal themes, making her art accessible and evocative. Art has always been a source of healing for Kaori, and she hopes her paintings inspire joy, connection, and reflection in others. Through her work, she strives to uplift spirits, promote world peace, and foster a deeper appreciation for the nature of the universe.
